A New Devotional Posted
Every Monday
Mercy is a flow of fairness and justice. The mercies of God are new everyday for those who live righteous. (Lamentations 3:23, Psalm 145:9)

You’ll never hear me say, “I am not worthy of Jesus.” You’ll never hear me say, “I was not worthy of Jesus.” You’ll never hear me say, “I can’t believe God uses someone like me.” You’ll never hear me sing this line from that old song Amazing Grace, “Who saved a wretch like me.” I am not a wretch.

If one of my daughters were to disown me, and estrange herself from me, and if she were to deliver a baby she infected with aids, and addicted to cocaine, and she abandon that baby, and I were to hear about it, would I turn my back on that baby because of the mess he is in? Would I hold her sin against him? After all, it would take much pain and effort, and so much time, and energy to restore that little guy so he can live a normal, healthy life. Are you kidding? I would run to that little guy, and sweep him up in my arms, I would dedicate him to God, and do all I could using medical science and my faith to bring him through.

Let me ask you this, how much more would our heavenly Father do the same for us? (Matthew 7:11) Would my grandson be unworthy of my help because his mother infected him? Would he say, “Nana, I am not worthy of you”? Would he come to my house and not make himself at home because he doesn’t feel worthy of me? Would my grandson stand in my presence and feel inferior because he’s not worthy of me? No, he would not. He would be ever grateful that I loved him enough to bring him close to me and introduce the love of God to him. My grandson would be worthy of my help because he is innocent. However, he would not be worthy of my help due to any of his merits.

How much more would our heavenly Father do the same for us? (Matthew 7:11) Just like it wouldn’t be my grandson’s fault that he was infected, it is not our fault that Adam sinned and infected us with the sin nature. Adam infected the whole human race with the sin nature. I was not in the garden when that happened, nor were you. We didn’t get to vote! Our Father is just and fair and sent His son Jesus to rescue us from this infliction of eternal damnation. He didn’t leave us to fend for ourselves in this infliction. He loves us so much that He swept us up in His arms expressed in the plan of redemption. In the plan of redemption is health and healing. (Romans 5:12, Romans 5:17, Exodus 15:26, Exodus 23:25, I Peter 2:24, Matthew 8:17, Psalm 107:20, Acts 10:38)

People who feel unworthy—who have a ‘wretch like me’ mentality aren’t thinking right. They are thinking, the sin they committed makes them unworthy. We’ve all committed sin because we were infected with the sin nature, Romans 3:23. When we become born again, old things are passed away—the sin nature is abolished, and all things become new—the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus is now the law that abides within us. No longer hell bound, but now pointed toward heaven. The law of the spirit of sin and death has been abolished and replaced by this new law. (Colossians 2:15, II Corinthians 5:17, Romans 8:2, Romans 6:14)

As a Christian, we must be constantly aware of this new law, the Spirit of Life in Christ within us. If we are not aware of this new law, sickness will overpower us. If we are not aware of how fair and just our Father is, we will never experience the full benefits of Calvary. Health and healing are part of the benefits of Calvary. You can assign the healing power of God to your sick body by speaking, out loud, the healing scriptures over your body, and listening to healing scriptures all day every day until every symptom is gone. God sees you worthy of all He is, and all He has, I John 4:17.

Grace is unmerited favor, meaning it’s unearned. I am not worthy of Grace because of my good deeds. However, I am worthy to receive this unearned gift of Grace. I am not worthy of Grace by works, but I am worthy of Grace as a gift from a fair and just God. I am not worthy because of what I’ve done, I am worthy because of what He has done.

With this knowledge some loose minded thinking folk may say, “Well then the sin I commit is not my fault because I was infected with the sin nature.” Jesus Christ took that excuse away from the nonbeliever and the believer. The nonbeliever has the responsibility to say yes to Jesus, and the believer has been empowered to walk sinless—from the life of practicing sin, or a life of committing to sin. Grace is not the liberty to sin; Grace enables you to live free from the dominion of sin, Romans 6:14. Grace enables us to do our part so God can do His.
